Finding Lawyers by the Types of Cases They Handle

Question: Do you know of any resources for obtaining the names of lawyers handling current child support, child custody, homicide or sexual assault cases? I want a service that will provide the names along with a brief description of the case.

Answer: After failing to receive a response to the question about resources for obtaining the names of lawyers handling current child support, child custody, homicide or sexual assault cases, I asked several vendors for ideas. The Director of Business Development for FindLaw, Doug Hoover, responded. (Special thanks to Lori Hedstrom at West for tracking down the answer.)

Doug Hoover: Try the Thomson Legal Record on Findlaw. Search for attorney by experience -- child support is one of the categories. To view the whole record, you have to register. Registration is free. The whole view reveals cases associated with attorney. (Editor: Obtaining details about the cases requires a subscription to Westlaw.)
